4 CBD Dosage Routines
How do you like to take your drops? While we normally advise using a few drops, 2-3 times per day, there are other routines that people can follow depending on their health and wellbeing goals. Read on to discover our top 4!
1) Twice per day
Taking your drops morning and evening is probably the most common routine that people tend to follow. The effects of CBD Oil tend to last around 6 hours, so taking the drops morning and evening can allow for a fairly constant dose of CBD throughout the day.
There is also a convenience factor, so you can simply use your oil at home around breakfast and dinner time without needing to carry a bottle around.
2) Three times per day
For people who try the twice per day method but experience a dip in wellbeing after lunch, an intermediary dose may be required.
If this is the case, then optimal results could be attained by splitting your daily dose into 3 portions – morning, midday, and evening. This will offer an even more consistent CBD dose throughout the day and may help you to calmly sail through the day.
3) One large dose
Depending on what CBD is being used for, the user may need a more strategic dosing strategy.
In certain circumstances, one large dose can be beneficial. For example, if you tend to experience a big well-being dip at a specific time/moment in the day.
Under these circumstances, taking all of your daily dose at once can offer a more impactful solution to help you get through your specific isssue.
One example of a situation where this could work would be for people who struggle with public speaking, giving presentations, or dealing with difficult people. One large dose can help to calm the mind and nerves to make the experience a little more comfortable.
4) As and when needed
While best results tend to come from a consistent routine, this may not be necessary for everyone.
CBD works by influencing the function of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a bodily system responsible for promoting the balance of nearly all bodily functions. Issues such as pain, stress, poor sleep, anxiety, and mood have all been associated with an imbalance in the ECS.
But some people’s ECS may already be functioning optimally most of the time, meaning that CBD may not be required on a routine basis. But even in this case, CBD can be a useful tool to have around.
CBD could be used sparingly for specific purposes such as:
- On ‘rainy days’
- After heavy exercise
- Before bed (if needed)
- When under pressure
At the end of the day, we are all different, so the best way to find out which routine could work for you is through personal experimentation.
Whichever method you choose to follow, the best results will always be obtained by holding the drops under the tongue for at least one minute before swallowing and taking within a half-hour window of eating something (containing a source of fat).
Holding the drops allows for more CBD to be absorbed through mucous membranes in the mouth, and consuming with a meal increases absorption rates (bioavailability) after ingestion.
What about other CBD products?
For those who use products such as our CBD capsules, CBD gummies, or water-soluble cbd, or CBD patches, these 4 methods can still apply. The only real outlier would be the patches that only need to be changed every 24 hours.
As with CBD oil, experimenting with different dosing methods for other cbd products can be equally beneficial when discovering what works best for you.
