CBD Dosage – How much CBD should I take?

Whilst there is no one size fits all dose, there are a few simple steps you can take to ensure you are making the most of your CBD Oil and getting the correct CBD Dosage.


How do I know how much CBD I should take?


Here at BROWN’S CBD, we sell CBD Oil UK, as a food supplement for general health and wellness. But we are aware that many people use CBD to help with a wide range of issues. Because of this, the amount of CBD needed will vary from person to person depending on what it is being used for. On top of that, factors such as body weight and the general state of your Endocannabinoid System also have an influence on how much CBD is required for the desired outcome.

The truth is, there is a lack of solid scientific data for anyone to be able give you 100% accurate CBD dosage information, and even if we did know, we wouldn’t be able to tell you as this would be classed as medical advice (we are not doctors).

However, the general consensus is to start low then gradually increase until you feel the most benefit. Once you find the number of drops that works best for you, you can calculate the mg of CBD in that number of drops which will give you your optimum dose.


What is the best way to take CBD Oil?


  1. Apply the drops under the tongue – it’s best to do this in a mirror to ensure that you are not applying too little or too much.
  2. Hold the drops under the tongue for at least one minute. We recommend holding them for longer if you can, to ensure that as much CBD is absorbed as possible. We personally hold our drops for roughly 5 minutes.
  3. Wash the oil down with a glass of water.

Following these steps ensures that you are making the most of your CBD oil as this method is optimum for CBD absorption. You can swallow the drops directly or mix them with food or drink, however much less CBD will be absorbed so we advise against it. In terms of timing, we recommend applying the drops 30 – 40 minutes after breakfast and your evening meal.


Recommended CBD dosage plan for a complete beginner


If you are completely new to CBD, we recommend starting with a low strength CBD oil such as our 5% CBD oilFor the first week, start with just 1-3 drops 2-3 times per day. We generally find that twice per day is sufficient for most people.

If you do not feel a significant benefit after 1 week, increase by one drop per serving for the second week. For example, if you used 2 drops, twice per day for the first week – increase to 3 drops twice per day for the second week. Continue increasing by one drop per serving on a weekly basis until you find what works best for you.

It’s important to be patient and take the time to find your optimum dose as having too much can be counter-productive and unnecessarily expensive. Sometimes less is more. 


How many mg of CBD are there in a drop?


The mg of CBD per drop depends on the strength of the oil and the size of the bottle. For simplicity, we sell all of our oils in 10ml bottles which have roughly 200 drops. So to find the mg per drop you just need to divide the mg content of the bottle by 200. For example, our 5% CBD Hemp oil contains 500mg, 500 divided by 200 equals 2.5, so our 5% oil has 2.5mg per drop. The table below shows the mg per drop for each of our CBD oils.
